BIBLICAL MODEL: Sudden Redemption, Then Sudden Judgment

Jesus compared His return to the judgment of Sodom and the redemption of Lot and his family as being an event of suddenness which was not suspected.

“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”  – Luke 17:28-30

Jesus compared His return to the events surrounding the Flood.  Suddenly, judgment came unexpectedly at the same time that Noah and his family were removed.

Imagine how men laughed at Noah for believing GOD’s Word instead of “mainstream” teachers of the day?

Imagine his chagrine and agony as he was called names.

Perhaps “doom and gloom”, “negative”, “judgmental”, “pious prune”, “proud know-it-all”, “disdainful”, “vitriolic”, “hater”, “nut”, “extremist”, “crazy preacher man”, “conspiracy theorist”, “right-winger”, “religious weirdo”, “ungracious”, “better-than-thou” and “fanatic”.  Imagine how set against GOD and how doubting and even hateful toward Noah’s story of redemption the masses were … but then GOD sent the Flood.
