I know of a person who works for a news network that is owned by a Vatican Knight. She also writes for an online magazine that was founded by a man who was more influential in attempting to unite Protestants and Catholics than any other man on the planet. What if this person were to tell you that she had recently become a “Jesus follower”?
What if she were to tell you that she came to Jesus through the intellectual wisdom taught by a false teacher who claims to be ‘Presbyterian” but teaches a false “means of grace” salvation, theistic evolution, a new age mysticism, ‘contemplative prayer’, and other dangerous teachings of the emergent “church” (all of which mesh perfectly with Vatican theology)? What if she stated that her whole viewpoint had changed?
Would it make her testimony more believable if she said she was once an agnostic or atheist? Or that she was intellectually changed in her position to believe in GOD by the amazing intellectual prowess of this false teacher in “evangelical Christianity”? Or would the clincher be when she said she was filled with indescribable joy when the “veil was lifted” and that she had finally been “caught” by the “Hound of Heaven” (a name presumably used by her to describe GOD, although most unbelieving Jewish rabbis would probably gasp at this description of the Creator)?
I foresee the day that an entire world will easily be persuaded to believe in such a “testimony” as being true. In fact, I can foresee the day that the world will welcome the False Christ, a man who persuades men that he is “GOD” as he sits in the temple of GOD through the intellectual wisdom of this world and sheer genius, instead of through the foolishness of preaching the simple Gospel and the convicting power of the Spirit.
He will have the world so persuaded that he is “GOD” that they will take his mark of identification in their foreheads or right forearms and will celebrate the deaths of “mean, Bible-thumping” Christians who do not embrace him and his mark. The world will consider these people “mean” for not condoning each and every sin of those around them regardless of how perverted or criminal, and “Bible-thumpers” because they look to the Bible instead of man-made wisdom for their beliefs. The False Christ will not demand repentance, but only worship. The many false teachers, like a plague upon the world, will hail him as the long-awaited Messiah. In reality, they will be worshiping Satan.
How persuasive will this False Christ be?
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” – Matthew 24:24
Why would GOD allow someone to persuade men with such a strong delusion? I believe GOD is aware that they prefer ungodliness over repentance. They love tradition more than GOD’s commandments as found in His Holy Word. They love sin more than the Savior. They love the benefits of heaven but refuse to bear their cross for Christ. Thus, they believe in whatever the Bible says so they can have heaven, but they refuse to give Him their life. They’ll even admit there’s a GOD and that His name is Jesus, but they don’t want to obey GOD. Instead, they desire to only benefit from Him (i.e. heaven), while crafting Him into their own image. In the end, they serve a false christ who can’t save them from hell. GOD uses tests and tricky false teachers to sift them. What does the Bible say about such a scenario?
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now lets will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed! For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ. For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.” – Galatians 1:8-12
We must be sure that our eyes are centered upon Jesus Christ and our doctrine comes from Him, and not from men and their worldly wisdom. We must ensure we have entered into His family through repentance and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and not through intellectualism and a general “belief in GOD” alone.
“You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.” – James 2:19
Be sure that the Holy Spirit has done a work in your heart instead of human intellectualism. Salvation is more than just turning from agnosticism.
Salvation involves repentance, the Holy Spirit’s convicting work through the Word of GOD, and His indwelling. Why does GOD today allow false teachers to look so much like the Truth, while sending people into the darkened fires of eternity? I believe it’s because they don’t want GOD, but only heaven as I stated previously. As seen in the article at this link, I believe GOD allows vague teaching around music and other areas, so that men may feel justified to do what they really want to do and drift into the darkness of sin and its delusions … so that such people may then be darkened in their mind and believe in clever false teachers who sound genuine. When we see stormy circumstances in our lives and other tests that come our way, we must realize that GOD is separating the chaff from the wheat. I believe GOD wants those who love Him in heaven, not those who love heaven alone.
“And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.” As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore.” – John 6:65-66
I believe we are very close to the day that the strong delusion will be poured upon all men. A very good test of how easily persuaded people can be is to take the questions in dark red font at the beginning of this article and compare these questions to the article at this link written by a member of the Fox News network who also writes for Christianity Today. She claims to have left agnosticism in order to “follow Christ” after Jesus “appeared to her”.
When the apostles in Acts 1 were looking for a replacement for Iscariot, they chose someone who had seen Jesus and could witness His resurrection. As an apostle, Paul proved his qualifications in I Corinthians 9:1 by stating that he had seen the resurrected Christ. In I Corinthians 15, Paul further states that of all those who had seen Jesus Christ that he was the very last one. However, according to Kirsten Powers, she is now the last one to have seen Jesus if you are to believe her statement. Is this true? Be sure to read the article at this link regarding the charismatic movement before trusting her statement.
Are we to believe everyone who claims a vision from GOD? Also, is there anything in her testimony of repentance mentioned? Is there anything of the Spirit’s indwelling mentioned? Also, was her conversion an intellectual conversion or a spiritual conversion? Does she exalt a man and intellectualism in the post or does she give glory to the simple gospel and the convicting power of the Holy Spirit? Finally, is the man that she exalts in her intellectual conversion known as a false teacher as seen in the article at this link?
When you’re done with reading the articles at the links in the paragraphs above, think through how difficult it is today to see through the testimonies of those who claim to “follow Jesus” today, especially when they are so infatuated with false teachers, false worship, false gospels, and false grace. While I’m not the judge of anyone’s heart, I can judge what they say and compare it to Scripture. I am also commanded by the same Word to warn the flock of false teachers, and when I see that a false teacher is being exalted in an article like the one above, I must follow the Word’s commands.
Finally, did the article convince you that the false teacher, Tim Keller, was a “good christian”? How easy will it be for the world to be fooled? I wouldn’t doubt that most people on this planet would fall before the False Christ even now and worship him, especially if he “saves the world” from a pseudo-anti-christ and a possible manufactured economic collapse or some other great crisis in the world.
I am not as concerned about the atheists, agnostics, communists, and fascists today as I am about false ‘christians’ with their false teachers, false grace, false worship, false gospels, and false piety. They commit their sensual acts of sin through their ears, eyes, hands, and other practices all week long, and then go to their churches and do them in the name of GOD.
Which is the greater abomination? Performing evil or performing it in GOD’s name?
As we can see in the trial and crucifixion of Jesus, the latter is far more dangerous to true believers, and far more persuasive and damning to those who they lead into the flames of eternal anguish. Has today’s false version of Christianity not prepared the world to open their arms to the False Christ and False Prophet if they were to step on to the world stage today?
